Featured Event:
Person Street Pop-Up Market
This weeks featured event is the pop-up market on Person Street. This is their first event and they already have over 30 vendors lined up including food trucks and they’ll have music. There will be plenty of nearby parking as the event is taking place in one of the larger parking lots in the downtown area. If you have any questions, want to get involved or you’re just looking for more details about the event, check out their website. personstreetmarket.com
All Weekend:
Wide Open Bluegrass Festival
This is a huge event and people come from all over to attend or play at this event. There are far more performances, workshops and other things than I can list so I feel the best thing for me to do is give you a link to the Bluegrass Festival Schedule of Events. However if you need tickets, CLICK HERE.
Sep 27:
The Big Ol’ Nasty Getdown
I’m not going to try and describe this event in detail, as I won’t do it justice. I’ll just say CLICK HERE for the details. But the event sounds super dope, and if you like funky blues the $20 cover is worth it.
Sep 28:
Whole Hog Barbecue Championship
If you like hog… you may LOVE this event! Tickets are on sale now for $10 or you can pay $15 at the event. (Get your tickets here) Depending on how many people come through this event could be the highlight of the weekend. You should get to sample as much as you want/can, up to 28 different hogs will be barbecued by 28 of the states top Bar-B-Quer’s! So yeah, if you like pig, DO THIS ONE!!
Oktoberfest @ Lafayette Village
This is an interesting event and it seems to focus on Wiener Dog racing. Prior to this event I didn’t know racing Wieners was a thing, but I’ve learned people take Wiener dog racing pretty seriously! You can tell the level of seriousness, as the event description requests no selling of animals, no possession of firearms, no consumption of drugs and no gambling! Wow, Wiener races seem to attract a pretty rough crowd! So, if you go to this event, remember, don’t get complacent, keep your head on a swivel and be mindful of your surroundings. You just never know what might happen when you go to a Wiener Race! Also, they may have a bunch of beer at this event? TBD….
Oktoberfest Party @ Nickelpoint Brewery
Keeping with the Oktoberfest theme Nickelpoint Brewing Co is hosting their own party from 2pm-6pm and they’re encouraging people to come in costume.
Sep 29:
The Caniac Carnival
This event includes FREE admission and FREE parking! How often does that happen? You will need a ticket, sadly they out but they do have a waiting list, so please visit Caniac Carnival Waiting List to get your ticket. To be notified of other special events directly from the Hurricanes I’d recommend downing their app. Click here for Android and here for iPhone.
