This weekend offers a lot of quality family friendly events along with a couple good concerts in Downtown Raleigh! Below you’ll see a couple more events we recommend as well as how to join Explore Raleigh and how to make recommendations for next weekend!
Friday Jun 21st:
Vampire Weekend: Father of the Bride Tour
This band from NY is pretty popular on the international level and sell out overseas pretty quickly. They still have some tickets left for sale here at the Red Hat, look them up on Youtube and see if it’s something you’re interested in.
Big What? Showcase: Dr Bacon, LITZ, and Emma’s Lounge
On the local level, we have some good music happening over at the Pour House. Cover is $10 at the door. If you’ve never heard of The Big What Music Festival we’re happy to introduce you to it. But this is a showcase from The Big What. You’ll be able to get a sample of some of the music that they will have during their three night festival.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show @ Rialto
One thing you need to know, if you don’t already, is that this isn’t just a movie you sit and watch, it’s an interactive experience with a shadow cast on stage with tons of interaction from the audience. A quick side note is, the Rialto will not be selling alcohol for this show, so if you’re so inclined, pop next door to Churchill’s before the show starts and chug down a quick brew or two.
Saturday Jun 22nd:
Pollinator Palooza
Join The NC Museum of Art and their partner Bee Downtown and other pollinator-loving organizations to celebrate the creatures that sustain our ecosystem and food supply. Taste honey, take home seeds to plant your own pollinator garden, make art, and learn about the importance and conservation of pollinators.
5th Annual Blueberry Music Festival
Advance tickets are sold out for this event, however tickets are available for purchase when you get there for $15. The bands this year are, The Wilder’s Corner band, 8 Track Minds, Johnny Orr Band & Love Tribe! There will be Food Trucks, Beer & Wine, Blueberry Picking & lots of FUN on the Back Forty! KIDS (12 & Under) get in FREE!
Slightly Stoopid: How I Spent My Summer Vacation 2019
One of the biggest things happening this weekend is Slightly Stoopid with special guests Matisyahu, Tribal Seeds, and HIRIE. Tickets are still available and tickets on the lawn are just $25!
Sunday Jun 23rd:
5th Annual Pickelfest
The Rickhouse hosts Durham’s 5th Annual PickleFest – a pickle-packed tasting event and marketplace!
They will be showcasing North Carolina made products from pickle vendors near and far including locally crafted kombucha and kimchi! Triangle area restaurants sample their unique pickle dishes as well as pickle flavored beers and a Bloody Mary bar to quench your thirst and pucker your lips!
Poetry Night @ Imurj
Come through for an evening of poetic expression. Creative uses of poetry exposed by raw a capella vocals. Recited works and readings accepted.
The evening starts with a half hour writer’s block break-through session, followed by the mic opening up!
The bar will be serving beer, wine, cocktails, coffee & sodas as well as sandwiches, salads, & wraps.
