It’s been a beautiful week in Raleigh and it shall continue into the weekend with highs in the upper 80’s and some cloud cover. There are quite a few good music options this weekend! If you haven’t visited our Facebook book page in a while, you can click the following link and check out all our event recommendations for the foreseeable future. Event List on Facebook
We hope everyone is enjoying our weekend recommendations and our little bit of attempted humor in bringing you these events. If not.. oh well… maybe next weekend?
Below you’ll see events we recommend by date and at the bottom of this post you’ll find information on how to join Explore Raleigh and suggest future events for us to recommend to other members!
All Weekend:
GalaxyCon Raleigh
The Raleigh SuperCon is now GalaxyCon and features over 300 hours of programming stretched across 4 days with Q&A’s, workshops, costume competitions, burlesque, comedy, film screenings, tournaments & more! And once again, if you’re not into this kinda stuff, you’re probably into laughing at people who are into this kinda stuff… sooo… as I see it.. events like this bring happiness to EVERYONE!!!
July 26th:
Florida Georgia Line
Are you ready for the Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour? Well, ready or not here it is! So, if you like country music… or if you’re looking to start liking country music this would be a good place to start.
Mary J. Blige Tribute Event
If you’re more into 90’s hip hop & r&b you’re probably more inclined to check out this MJB tribute band than FGL. It’s a 7 piece band who’s sound will provide you with some amazing throwback memories. Ahhh the good ole days of the 90’s…
July 27th:
Beer & Ice Cream
When I first heard about this event I thought… “OMG THAT’S GROSS!” But then I thought, this is like the ultimate daddy/daughter or father/son event. Dad gets to drink all the beer and the kiddos get to eat the ice cream… the only person who might not love this event is the mom who has to pick up her drunk husband and sugar crazed kids at 3 in the afternoon and then deal with that situation the rest of the day… other than that.. this sounds like a great idea!
Rally to Protect Umstead
Sooo… we’re starting to get a little political here but this is the good kind of political. This event is about protecting Umstead from the RDU Rock Quarry. I’m unfamiliar with everything involved but I know Umstead is a great place to hike, bike and enjoy an afternoon with family and friends (and pups). So if something is threatening this park it effects all of us through some form of trickle down quality of life economics. If you can’t attend the rally, please educate yourselves about the situation. THANK YOU!
John Butler Trio with Trevor Hall
The John Butler Trio is an Australian roots-rock band led by an American-born guitarist, vocalist, & songwriter John Butler. All I hear is good things about these guys and it’s at the NCMA so it’s a great venue and a great way to spend an evening. Enjoy!
July 28th:
Dog & Car Wash
If your dog or car or truck need a wash this is a twofer, you can get your stuff cleaned up AND help a really good dog rescue. All proceeds goes to Cause for Paws & there will also be some cute lil pups hanging out trying to find their furever home, maybe you can help them out with that? *HINT HINT*
311 & Dirty Heads
For many people this is the highlight of the weekend and for others it’s just a great way to end a very musical weekend. And yet, others may decide to stay home and play Grand Theft Auto, after all, the Casino Update just came out this week!!! STOP KILLING THE VALET!!! He’s just trying to do his job!!!
