Right about now you’re probably wondering the same thing I am, “What’s up with all this heat?” Weather man says it’s going to be highs between 95* & 98* all weekend! So, with that being said, we need to be careful about the events we plan outside. Drink plenty of water and party with a friend.
Below you’ll see events we recommend by date and at the bottom of this post you’ll find information on how to join Explore Raleigh and suggest future events for us to recommend to other members!
All Weekend:
Dix Park Sunflowers
Don’t miss the sunflowers while they’re in full bloom! They’re a great backdrop for photos and just a lot of a fun to walk through. Also, Dix Park is showing the Incredibles 2 Movie on Saturday around 8pm, doors open at 7pm with a kids Super Hero contest & parade at 7:45.
Dix Park Sunflowers on Instagram Please use #DixPark & #ExploreRaleigh in any photos you take at Dix!
Friday Jul 19th:
Bands, Bites & Boats
This is a first Friday event that was rescheduled, so take this opportunity to do something you might not usually do if you’re in Downtown Raleigh on First Friday. As far as an event description, it’s just like it sounds, there’s a band, there is food & it’s at Bond Park Boathouse in Cary. It’s different than other similar events that happen around Raleigh, bring bug spray, a chair and enjoy the evening sitting on the dock or out on the lake!
11 Echoes & Co @ The Maywood
It’s one part Rock & Roll and one part birthday celebration for 11 Echoes! But for you, it’s a night of good music and fun. Also on the docket are Past Tense of Never & Needlemouse. So only one question… Are you ready to rock? Doors open at 8, music starts about 815.
Saturday Jul 20th:
One Giant Leap Festival
Historically, history is brutal and sad, but every so often humans come together and we fake something, and then lie to ourselves about it for 50 years, and it’s totally AWESOME!!! But in all seriousness, this is a dope event happening at the NC Museum of History in Downtown Raleigh from 11am – 4pm. It’s both indoor and outdoor & tickets are free. There’s more stuff happening at this event than you’d believe.. well.. maybe not since you believe we landed on the moon… haha okay, now all the jokes are done. You can also swing by the NC Science Museum located right across the way. This is a fun for the whole family event & it’s highly recommended.
90’s Night at the Carolina Mudcats
First things first.. get there early! If you’re one of the first 1,200 fans you can score a free tank top that’s dope AF! 2ndly, minor league baseball games are just fun, you don’t even have to like baseball to enjoy an evening at the park. Grab a gal, grab a guy, or just grab a friend (with their permission and in a respectful manor) and check out what the Mudcats are all about!
Sunday Jul 21st:
Game Night Garage Sale
If you’re looking to pick up some games at a discounted price, this is your event! It’s hosted by Erin and Triangle Game Night. They put on all sorts of fun activities all over Raleigh. Check it out, talk with Erin and see what kind of other stuff she has planned for the group in the upcoming weeks.
Taste of Soul
Not your average food truck rodeo, this event specializes in soul food. Once again this event is at my favorite park in Durham, the Durham Central Park. Also, I’d recommend grabbing an entree from Let’s Eat HomeStyle. Enjoy!
Food Truck Rodeo in North Hills
If you’re looking to stay in Raleigh check out the North Hills Midtown Park. They plan to have about 6 or 7 food trucks with proceeds benefiting the Special Olympics. Raleigh PD will also be onsite with SEU (aka SWAT), K9 & Bomb Squad Unit. So it’s a great time to see what the Raleigh PD is capable of. Should be pretty cool!
