Another summer weekend with highs guestimated to reach 95*-97* all weekend long! With that kind of heat it’s hard to want to do too much during the day but we found a couple things that may cause you to brave the heat.
Below you’ll see events we recommend by date and at the bottom of this post you’ll find information on how to join Explore Raleigh and suggest future events for us to recommend to other members!
Friday Jul 12th:
Harry Potter Trivia @ Aloft
So, are you a big Harry Potter fan? If so you’ll have a lot of fun with this, if you’re not, at least you’ll get to laugh at all the Harry Potter fans, just be cool about it and try not to point! This trivia is different than most, it’s run by Triangle Game Night and they encourage people to dress in character and really go all out, so again… you’ll either have a lot of fun, or a big laugh. The event takes place at Aloft, I can’t tell you a single thing about the venue, except that it’s across the street from the NCSU Bell Tower and they tore down an awesome sandwich shop to build it there.
Saturday Jul 13th:
Destination Sunfest @ Dix Park
Destination Sunfest is clearly the big event of the weekend. There is so much happening that day with music and activities that I will not bore you with the details, the 2 main takeaways are that there will be no onsite parking and you can’t bring your pup. But, it should be an awesome event, it starts at 2pm, and ends around 9pm with some fireworks! Okay, full disclosure I just received word from Dix Park that there might not be fireworks at this event.. but.. I got my fingers crossed!
But here are some tentative music times for the bands:
- 2:45 – 4:00 pm – Africa Unplugged
- 4:30 – 5:30 pm – The Sunday Special
- 6:00 – 7:00 pm – Hammer No More The Fingers
- 7:30 – 9:00 pm – 120 Minutes
Bike Night @ Transfer Co. Food Hall
It may seem like there’s a bike night every other weekend but this weekend at Transfer Co will be a little different, mostly just that it’s at a food hall so there will be a variety good food options, including Mama Crow’s Burger & Salad who is having their grand opening this weekend. So come out, check out the bikes and grab some food and some brews and just relax. This is a great time to try out the Transfer Co Food Hall if you haven’t already!
Sunday Jul 14th:
Cary’s Downtown Chowdown
This is the Town of Cary’s take on a food truck rodeo, and I like it! It’s got that small town vibe that other food truck rodeos really lack. Cary blocks off streets, puts up a stage for music and they welcome you walk around the recently renovated and updated downtown area. It’s definitely worth a look-see. Just bring a couple bottles of water with you.
