So tubing is a fun and relaxing thing to do with some friends and people have asked me where they should go and how it works, so here’s my answer:
Go tubing here in Raleigh on the Neuse River!
It’s pretty simple to do as long as you have at least 1 friend (it’s more fun if you have more friends). But it’s a great afternoon killer.
This is how you do it:
- Visit PaddleCreekNC.com to get your parking pass.
- Get your float. Almost any float will work so long as it’s durable. I’ve seen people have success with pool floats. But here’s a link to my float.
- Find at least one friend with a few hours to kill.
- Meet downriver @ your exit point, at the Paddle Creek access point. Leave one/half of your vehicles at this point (each vehicle must have a parking pass). This is where Capital Blvd crosses the Neuse River.
- Carpool up to the Falls of the Neuse canoe launch point. That’s where you’ll put in and drift down to the exit point.
- Carpool back up to the launch and you’re done!
Recommended packing list:
- Friends
- Water shoes
- Sunscreen
- Snacks
- Float
- Towels (left in the car at the exit point)
- Sunglasses
- A hat
- Waterproof book to read
